As a nation state Hong Kong already possesses a number of challenges, i.e., density, livability, housing inequity, urban renewal. The 50 years' transitional period of 'one country-two systems' is itself a challenge because of the anonymity of its future direction towards either an edge city status of the People's Republic of China (PRC) or as the center of the Pearl River Delta (PRD) in south China.
